Hi everyone, well I took early retirement for the quiet life and then I discovered Soul Legends Radio and it has never been quiet since. After taking part in a Playlist I had put together, I was encouraged to do a podcast by everyone on the station. It took me 3 weeks to put it together and no one was more surprised than me when the station deemed it good enough to air. So I do not have a long list of experience in radio but I love music and I play guitar mainly rock and blues. I collect vinyl, nothing I like better than rummaging around for some forgotten gem in my local Record store. I cannot thank the station enough for giving me this opportunity and the wonderful people here who give me tons of encouragement and I say to you out there whatever your dream give it a go! You can catch me live n direct with Garry's Breakfast Shows between 7am & 9am Mondays to Fridays. Cheers Garry

Hi, my name is Pete Gentry and I had my arm twisted to join Soul Legends Radio by my good friend the Reverend Clive Osborn. I started DJing at the age of 17 and was lucky enough to secure a position as a warm up DJ for a very popular DJ in the early days and moved on to become a mobile DJ. Working in the clubs and residency work gave me the confidence and experience to become a corporate DJ where I worked alongside Clive Osborn. I have a varied taste in music and look forward to sharing my love of music along with some crazy banter with the Listener's Station that is Soul Legends Radio. You can catch me on air Monday, Wednesday & Friday mornings between 9am - 11am.

The sound of SoulShyne has been experienced primarily on the South Coast of the UK but has spread across many parts of Europe and beyond. The music is lovingly selected and mixed by resident DJ and SoulShyne founder Mick Fuller with support from many guests and is aimed firmly at a more discerning listener. During his career, Mick's adaptability and good musical taste have been the secret of his success, taking in many different styles of soul music in all of its various forms, from Rare Groove & Disco through to US Garage & Deep Soulful House. Over the years he has played at all of Brighton's coolest clubs including The Inn Place, Escape Club, The Zap, Honey Club & Ocean Rooms as well as holding long-term residencies at the legendary Kings 2 & Helsinki. As a guest DJ, he’s also been welcomed everywhere from international house nights like Soul Heaven & Defected in the House to old school hip-hop jams and original soul sessions. Venues from Mick’s hometown of Brighton to those in the UK & further afield are all feeling the mix of Old School Soul, Funk Anthems, Disco Classics & Deep Soulful House. With guests including Jay Hannan (Lazy Dog), Andy Caldwell (San Francisco), DJ Romain (NYC), Joey Musaphia, Dr Bob Jones, Cleveland Anderson (Black Masses), Bobby & Steve, Terry Jones, Harley & Muscle (Italy), Seamus Haji (Big Love), Julian Bendall (Bah Samba), & Sir Piers (Curious Records) all gracing the SoulShyne turntables, it’s come as no surprise that the nights continues to rock at exclusive parties at venues including The A Bar & Terrace, Babylon Lounge, Sumo, Ocean Rooms, Vudu, Suga Qube, Club 52, The World's End, Funktion Rooms, Flava, Lo Lounge, Ninja Bar, Concorde 2, Medusa, Baltasar (Espana), Garabato (Espana), Achill (Espana) & Atalaya (Espana). Catch The SoulShyne Show every Monday between 2pm and 4pm on Soul Legends Radio.

When it comes to music I love anything with a beat. I love all types of genres including Trance, Reggae, Soul, Disco & 80's electronica. My passion is House Music, especially Funky/Jackin House & Nu Disco. My love started when I borrowed (stole) my Dad's Stars on 45 Tapes back in the early 80's and that was it...Hooked on the beats. I have only been DJ'ing around 18 months as life took over and I wanted to get music back into my life. That opportunity came when I was asked by my good friend and fellow SLR DJ, Malcolm Aubrey, to cover two of his Shows last year. As nervous as I was I did it and have not looked back and I now have my own Bumpy Road Show every Monday at 6pm!

My Name is Malcolm Aubrey! I was first introduced to Soul music at a very young age, my father was always playing Jazz, Funk and Soul tunes in the house, and it helped when his brothers were also DJ`s in the States and would send over white labels and imports before they reached the shops over here. I liked what I heard, one of the tunes sent to me from my uncle was Soul Power 74 on a 7" by Maceo and the Macks and it is still one of my favorite tunes in my collection. That is when I decided I wanted to play tunes. My first party I played at was when i was 11 years old and I loved it. I then started playing at a Thursday night youth club and school parties and college disco`s. My first big gig was playing on the island of Rhodes in Greece, only went there for a holiday and ended up playing there on and off for 10 years and loved every minute of it. I had a regular bar and night club to play in playing Jazz, Funk and Soul and I also also had my own radio show as well during the day. Being back here in this country I have had the privilege of playing at various events around the country, the one event I look forward to every year is playing at Summer Soulstice - I was invited to play there with an excellent team of DJ`s 6 years ago and love it. I started playing on Soul Legends Radio in 2016 and I look forward to my shows every Monday & Thursday evening between 8pm & 10pm - my style of music has changed over the years. Now I like playing Soulful House, Latin, Latin Beats and anything FUNKY!! My favourite DJ is the one and only Louie Vega.

Lovin’ the music & wanting to keep it alive is an understatement for Gary. He’s still at it today. He first noticed ‘the sound’ at the early age of 8 in 1967 & eventually was brought up on The Jackson 5 from the very early 70’s. He was presented with his very first record player, a ‘Discatron’ front loading 7” slot player in silver with two massive buttons! Eject & Play…at that age & he thought, ‘waaaw, this is it!’ Although he had ‘the sound’ all around him from the age of 7, he confesses he didn’t actually get to choose & buy! His first 7” single until around Christmas 1973, when on a holiday break to family & armed with enough pocket money, he raced to a branch of ‘Woolworths’ in Pembroke Dock South Wales UK, then, over to the ‘record bar’ & bought a copy of The Staple Singers – ‘If You’re Ready Come Go With Me’. Needless to say it got played to death & everybody ended up knowing all the words &! Gary’s favourite part of the song which was the ‘dubbl drum riff’ near the end. He considers himself very fortunate to have been born just in time to fully appreciate what he calls ‘theee decade of the very best music’ which he says can still be heard influencing so many tracks from the 2000’s. It’s been such an honour to him to have ‘lived the time frame’ of Soul & Disco Funk music from its beginning. His biggest kick is when he finds out that someone has ‘discovered all this great music’ & immediately loves it. That makes it all worth the effort. He very much looks forward to having you around during the show. The ‘Discatron’

I followed in my brothers' footsteps by starting to DJ in the clubs of Peterborough in the 1990s and then followed on into the soul & funk scene around Cambridgeshire. I did two sessions abroad including Ibiza and Southern France. DJ'ing around the UK in the last 20 years and finally joining Internet Radio in 2019. I love many different genres of music but mainly Soul and Funk having been brought up on this genre of music by my older siblings. I still love records and am a keen collector. Music is my peace and inner strength. I love making people happy by playing music and am very keen at promoting the music of Independant Artists and hope I can help their careers progress. Two's twice as good as one and that's a fact. Soulfly and Mozkito have been spinning the tunes for over 30 years in Belfast. We firmly believe that Belfast is the birthplace of Soul. We join the dots and colour in the soul spectrum playing everything from Tamla to Zapp.

I started playing records at my parent’s house when my brother had a huge selection of tunes. I sneaked into his bedroom one day I was off school sick and I would spend ages trying to find that record sleeve belonging to the AWB {the album cover had a very distinctive feature with the letter W that's the only way I could remember the album}. The track I was so keen to play was "Nothing You Can Do" and from that day my love for music continued to grow and my journey continued landing a resident DJ job in a club in Halifax called the Acapulco Club. I then went on to work in Boston, Lincolnshire at several night clubs and I also do mobile Discos. My passion is music and this is the place to fit my face SLR RADIO!!

My dad was a saxophonist in a jazz band in the 50s/60s, so I grew up listening to music by the likes of Charlie Parker, Thelonious Monk, Louis Armstrong, Eddie Harris, Duke Ellington to mention a few…. Not really my kind of thing. An introvert by nature, my main pastime was listening to music and as I grew older I was exposed to different genres - Acid jazz, Jazz Funk, Brit Funk, Funk, Disco, Soul, Gospel, R & B - I was gradually able to identify what made me feel good…….Smooth Jazz. Not that I didn’t listen to anything else, but Smooth Jazz just felt like home, so much so that in later years I learnt to play the saxophone. Lovely soulful instrumental tunes that can take you to another place. But that does not negate the fact that I also love slow jams….. the kind of songs that give you Goosebumps and make your hair stand on end. Songs that speak to you, where the words of the song say what’s in your heart but you can’t find the words to say. My friends laugh but that is me. I started as a presenter almost 5 years ago on the now disbanded Love Music Radio (LMR) and moved on to Jazz Juice Radio and WJMX Smooth Jazz Boston. I’m really excited to be joining the Soul Legends Radio family. I’m no expert but just a lover of really good music, and you can expect to hear an eclectic and inimitable mix of Jazz in all its forms (smooth, acid, fusion), Funk, Soul, R & B,, Rare Grooves, and my well known-for slow tempos. Will I surprise you? Possibly. I hope you’ll keep coming back each week for more. Catch me Fridays between 4pm-6pm!

I have been involved in Soul Music and presenting for approx 40 yrs staring with a DJ spot at a well known night club in South Manchester “The Sandpiper” back in 1977. It was there I met my now wife Amanda of 35 years she was dancing round her handbag one night and for some reason took a fancy to me lol. I have been credited with introducing Mick Hucknall (Simply Red) with the hit single “Moneys Too Tight To Mention” as Mick was a regular visitor to The Sandpiper and I provided a tape copy of the track by The Valentine Brothers from America. I have always been a student of Soul Music and started broadcasting in 1985 approx at KFM Radio in Stockport. Since then I have worked on many Radio Stations and played at many all nighters over the years with the likes of Richard Searling, Mike Shaft and Greg Wilson to name but a few. I have also worked with in the studio with the likes of Lisa Stansfield back in the day and interviewed many Soul Stars over the years. I still attend concerts whenever possible and I am totally committed to embracing 21st century Soul associated genres as I believe it is a mistake to “stay stuck in the past”.I joined WFM some years ago and have presented various shows during that time. My current show has a high level of preparation with Classic soul as well as 21st Century grooves. I appear every year at The Printworks Soul festival in Manchester attended by over 40,000 people each year! In aid of the Christie Hospital and I am grateful to give something back to the masses that enjoy the music I love and raise funds for the Christie organisation. Catch me on SLR between 6pm - 8pm every Friday.

In terms of music as far back as I can remember I have always loved music and was playing my Mum and Dads records from an early age on my very own second hand record player. It was not Soul but Rock & Roll and Crooners from a collection of 78’s that I had been given. I even pushed my mother into buying a pair of shoes because it came with a copy of “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” by Elton John and KiKi Dee. My introduction to DJ’ing came in the early 1980’s when I and a school friend use to DJ at his house on two turntables with a collections of vinyl records. We pretended we were on the radio and I have had the desire to play records for peoples enjoyment ever since. I was not a Blue Eyed Soulboy in those days but someone who was a metal head and got his enjoyment from bands like Iron Maiden and AC/DC. The conversion to Soul came later. I got into pirate radio station like Radio Caroline and Lazer 558 which I could listen to quite freely as I was living in Kent at the time and they broadcasted from the North Sea. In 1987, I went to work in London and started to listen to pirates like Kiss and JFM who played mainly soul and disco. A light switched on in my head and I knew then that this was not only the music I needed to listen to but also to play; the trouble is it took me 25 years to realise that dream thank to radio Winchcombe. The Crazeology Radio show is not your traditional jazz music show as we like to play music across the spectrum’. The concept arose from the many different radio shows that I have listened to over the years bringing then all together as one. You can hear Nick & his shows as follows - Boogie Wonderland Show - 2pm on Wednesdays, The Crazeology Radio Show - 7am on Saturdays and Egg on Toast with a Side of Bacon Show - 8am on Sundays.

Known colloquially as Marky from STRANGE CARGO. An Eclectic Multi-Genre Crate-Digging Vinyl Archaeologist / Music Collector, Chill Out Producer, Blog Writer, Impromptu Selector of the weird and wonderful keeping an eye on (last count) 109 Genres of note. Radio Show Host and occasional promoter of micro, word of mouth gatherings for those that like to get down differently. Born in 1970, I Grew up in a small countryside village in Hampshire, before moving to London and bought my first record aged 6, by 11 I was an avid fan of The Old Grey Whistle Test & John Peel radio shows. In 1981 my folks bought a video shop and I got into lots of soundtracks, enjoying a wide range of things from Punk to Pop Music. I Discovered Break Dancing in 1983, loving Electro and buying imports. I Became a Soul Boy around ’84 – 5. I’ve always loved Hip Hop (Especially UK) and the music of subcultures. (Mod, Punk, Skins etc.) By ‘87, I was heavily into Goth and Minimal Wave. I was a huge fan of Acid House from midway around that year and got into pay party promotions shortly after, where I stayed for a number of years professionally. I didn’t really like the musical transition into Hardcore much past 1992, when I discovered both Balearic and the more Ambient Side of Techno. Went from there into D & B, later into Trip Hop and finally onto Chill Out where I remained for several years, going onto production, management & promoting. I have always been into making eclectic mixtapes but didn’t seriously DJ until ‘98 moving to Thailand in ’99, where I used to DJ 16hr sets on the beach daily. I started collecting vinyl (after losing 3 collections in total) again in 2008 and became serious in the world of Vinyl Archaeology, where my heart remains. I do however still collect all formats and am a keen sample collector. These days, I now hold no other musical distinctions other than there are 2 types of music, good & bad. If it makes me feel good, I try to grab it and share it, and this is what STRANGE CARGO is all about: No rules, no limits and infinite musical possibilities; right across the board and from all over the world. I like to call it musical journeying where we attempt to leave all prejudice at the door and carve out soundscapes for the aurally adventurous. You can tune into me Friday nights into Saturday mornings on SLR! Bring a drink and get those feet up!

Where to start ...... I suppose way back when, when I was as young as young can be (946 years ago!! ). Music was everywhere from home to relatives to friends (not much TV in those days lol) and for that I am eternally grateful. Having an older brother who loved music just as much . Have always loved music of most genres but the one that has stuck with me throughout is Soul. And as we all know this comes in all sorts (except for liquorice). But we all have that defining moment when something special comes along and that for me was of course what is commonly known as Northern Soul. And then the unexpected happened and I reverted back to one of my first loves. And so here we are, I left all else behind for the uplifting sounds of Reggae / Dancehall. Catch me Saturday nights at 9pm through to Midnight!!

I have quite a varied taste in music and like lots of different genres which I try to incorporate into my show. My earliest memory around music is watching TOTP with my family and giving each song the thumbs up or down as they went through the countdown! My first record was ‘Ghost Town’ by The Specials and ska/two-tone was a favourite with me, later followed by hip-hop/electro. My husband (SLR DJ Asif Shaheed) encouraged me to get involved with his shows. He always said I’d be able to ‘learn the ropes’ so to speak, but I didn’t believe him. Turns out he was right! My love for music has really been reignited and the rest as they say is history! Catch me Sundays at 11am.

I have been on the music scene as a DJ since the 1970's, but my love of soul sounds comes from listening to Robbie Vincent & Greg Edwards playing smooth jazz and classic soul via Radio London and Capital Radio. I can play any genre at parties & weddings but being able to play the music I love via SLR is the best. As my listeners know I have a particular fondness to playing tunes containing a wicked saxophone sound. Catch me Sundays at 10pm!!

When I was 17 I started working as a roadie for my brother Tommy Newhart, who was starting out as a DJ. Worked in all the usual working man’s clubs and pubs along with people like Robbie Vincent and Capital Radio's DJ Kerry Juby. Trying to make ourselves as professional as we could, we soon found ourselves working for 3 agents. During my career in the music industry I’ve worked in many prestigious venues including The Natural History Museum, Ally Pally, The Imperial War Museum and I was the first resident DJ in the London Dungeon, setting the equipment up on the Tieburn Gallows and playing from a coffin I made myself. People I’ve worked for - The Morleys who organised Miss World, Steven Spielberg, Mick Hucknall, Sarah Ferguson to mention just a few but the one I am most proud of was playing at the 40th birthday party of Tessa Peake Jones aka Raquel in Only Fools and Horses – Delboy’s wife. Met all the cast and the writer John Sullivan. Still have a big soft spot for Gwyneth Strong (Cassandra). And NOW I am having a great time with the “SLR” boys and girls who have made me very welcome and I feel very at home. Feel free to get in touch via any media method that is available to you. It will be a pleasure to hear from you. Soul Legends Radio is getting bigger and better every day. Thanks for taking the time to read this. Yours.... The Reverend Clive Osborn. Tune in to the Reverend - Monday - Friday 7am - 9am and Sunday 9am - 11am

From as early as I can remember I fell asleep listening to those evening shows that never played just the hits, but lots of different things. Music - of all sorts - made me happy and I wanted to make others feel that way. As soon as I could, I picked and played the records. Family gatherings, then School discos, Community Centres and Parties. Private and corporate events and clubs - locally and internationally. Inevitably full time work filled much of my time. Still playing out, I cut back on other music commitments. In 2016 I returned to radio, introducing my Soul to the Universe Show here on Soul Legends Radio. Like those shows I loved as a kid, you’ll hear lot of different things - upfront and classic soul, rnb and funk. And Jazz, Disco, Salsa, Bachata & Reggaeton. And I’ll often play Hip Hop. Except on the shows I only play Reggae or House or the Soca to the Universe specials… so just come expecting to be surprised. You can currently catch my "No Rules Show" on Thursdays between 8pm-10pm.
